
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has broken his fast with Muslim soldiers deployed on the front lines. He attended an iftar for Muslim members of the country's military in the capital, Kyiv, on Thursday (local time) and met with the soldiers.
Zelensky briefly addressed the current situation at the iftar ceremony. Later, he broke his fast sitting on the ground with soldiers in a row and participated in the prayer.
Currently, there are an estimated 7 to 2 million Muslims living in the country, which is about 0.9 percent of the total population of Ukraine. The majority of the Muslim community lives in the eastern region of Crimea.
